Water Quality in your Intex Pool – Putting It All Together

If you have read our other water quality pages, you now have a basic education about the properties of your water. The next step is to put this information to work. The next two pages contain a simple program for maintaining water quality in your Intex pool.

First of all, a good idea is to come up with some method of keeping track of your measurements. You can do this on your computer or on paper. It’s very useful to be able to look back and see how the various components of your water interact based on weather, pool use, etc.

You will also need your test kit to take measurements and you will also need to use a calculator such as the one at http://www.poolcalculator.com/. To use this calculator, enter your pool’s water capacity (in gallons at the top, or by using the form at the bottom of the page) and find the row for the measurement you’re wanting to change. Enter the the measurement from your water in the “Now” column and enter your target in the “Target” column. Click the “Calculate” button and add the amounts shown to the right according to the instructions for the chemical you’re adding.

Daily routine (10-15 minutes per day to start, 5 minutes per day after a few weeks)

Weekly routine (10-15 minutes per week)

Also, remember to keep water quality in perspective. This isn’t brain surgery or rocket science. There is no need to panic if some of your measurements aren’t precisely within the suggested ranges. Generally, as long as you have sufficient (but not too much) stabilizer and add enough chlorine each day, problems will be few and far between.
